It all started in chat one night in 1997
*
We all became "regulars" chatting at dMaries every
night.
If one of our buddies wasn't there, we would summon
them by using ICQ.
Oh how we would brag about our latest layout or
ideas!
We would scan our layouts and send them to each
other and one evening we even talked about putting up a website so we
could share with others.
The only problem was, no one knew how! Since I
seemed to be the computer guru/techie(as they call me) I was elected
to see if I could do it.
Within a week or so, we had the home page done.
How excited we were!
Our very own web page!! Our web page needed a
name, and it seemed every other line of someone's typing had "LOL" (laughing
out loud) so we brainstormed and on March 17, 1998 Lots Of Layouts opened
to the public. We are/were so proud, we did it!
Lots Of Layouts consists of six women from all
over:
Linda aka LindaK is in Oklahoma
Marla aka Cassie is in Utah
Denise aka DeeDee is in Connecticut
Suzy aka Scrappin' Suzy is in California
Sara aka Satie is in California
Wendy aka Queeny or Wendy in CA is in California
* Our
second dream becomes a reality *
Again while in chat, we used to talk about meeting
and sending the "jet" and basically teased about flying to the others
house so we could scrap together. One evening someone asked about
the convention, and before any of us knew it 5 of the 6 of us
were going to the Second Annual Scrapbook Convention in Arlington Texas.
Suzy wasn't able to make this trip and we all missed her. But, the rest
of us would meet at last!
We talked, we cried, we laughed, we shared our
precious memory albums, we shopped, we went to way to many classes and
we even ate and shared rooms together.
But, we never scrapped together! LOL
Yes, we went to the crop on Saturday nite, we
even took our supplies, but I don't think
any of us got one page done. We just visited,
shopped and oohed and awed
over everyone else's 'stuff'!
A few very special events happened that night
at the crop though, and I know brought
tears to all of us! LindaK presented us a special
friendship ring to bind our ever
lasting friendship.
The picture above was presented to us from Sara!
Marla presented us with autographed copies of
her new book on
Scrapbooking
Quotes, Captions and Quips.
Marla gave us a quickie class on photo tinting
in the lobby of the hotel Saturday night. We didn't get enough of it
though and in October of this year Marla will be flying to
Sidelines
Scrapbook Store
(owned by our very own Sara) in California to
put on workshops. LindaK will be flying in from OK, I plan on
driving up, and hopefully we can get Suzy to drive over.
Once again, it will only be 5 of the 6.
We all have many pictures from the event, but
with busy schedules we haven't
completed our "Arlington Layouts".
These are just a few of what we have to share
with you now.
